Rs.6.00 = Rs.150.00 Value addition to MYROBALAN

VALUE ADDITION TO MYROBALAN (HALLA/Karakkaya): We trained 30 women in Ratnapuram village on Myrobalan powder making. Generally our women collect these Myrobalan fruit from near by forests and sell it to middle man and G.C.C.at very cheap rate (through away) cost i.e. Rs.6/-to 9/- per kg. We took 1 kg of Myrobalan dried fruit and asked the women to break and extract pulp. We found that the pulp extracted is 700 grams (1 kg of fruits). Yesterday we brought one packet of Myrobalan powder from Bhadrachalam market with a cost of Rs.30/- per 100 grams packet. Thus we calculate the same with the process of making powder we get  100 grams @ 30/-x 700 grams i.e. Rs.210/- extra per each kg of Myrobalan. If we make it fine powder using power Grinder or expeller, making label, packing material etc; costs approximately Rs.60/-. Then also we get Rs.150/- per Kg Myrobalan fruit instead of selling it @ Rs.6/-. We trying to make the  group active and initiate a federation with neighboring villages for marketing the product at appropriate place and for appropriate rate.
